4-9Sourwood Tree Seedlings are primarily found in the woodlands and along the water in the eastern part of North America. This type is in an array of colors for three seasons out of the year. Its fragrant flowers are white in the summer, followed by yellow seeds. The seeds turn brown and hang on throughout the winter. The leaves can be red, yellow, or purple in the fall. This showy type needs a prominent place in the landscape scheme.
They can grow around 30 feet high. They do great in full sunlight and are adaptable to various soil conditions. This type will produce approximately 2 to 3 feet yearly and look great when planted in a flower garden or natural area.
Sourwood Tree Seedling Has Stunning Blooms
Unlike most types, it boasts clusters of creamy white flowers in the summer heat. These dainty, fragrant flowers resemble those of the Lily-of-the-Valley plant.
The Foliage Of The Sourwood Tree Seedlings Is Stunning In Spring To Fall
Come fall, the shiny dark green leaves transform to vibrant red, rusty orange, golden yellow, and royal purple to end the growing season with pizazz. Gray seed capsules will contrast with the bright leaves and provide food for wildlife. This ornamental type is native to America, and its leaves can be ingested to assuage thirst. The scaly bark has an exciting texture and a reddish tinge to its gray base.
This seedling is a beneficial and beautiful type that will make a delightful addition to any landscape.
The Sourwood tree seedlings, also known as the Sorrel, are medium-sized and grow from 33 to 66 feet tall. It grows like a pyramid or narrow oval shape at a slow rate. Most can live for 100-200 years. The pointed, oval-shaped leaves are dark green in the summer and turn red, purple, or yellow in the fall.
Honey Bees Love The Sourwood Tree Seedlings
It is usually one of the first to change colors in the fall. Fragrant white flowers bloom from June to early July. The blooms resemble lily-of-the-valley, slender, drooping, one-sided flowers with seed pods that last into fall. Small wooden fruit capsules hang from them in winter. The branches droop toward the ground; these flowers attract honey-producing bees. The bark is grayish-brown, red-toned, rough, and furrowed.
Sourwood Tree Seedlings Are Hardy To Soil Types
Sourwood tree seedlings grow in slightly acidic, loamy-moist, sandy, and clay soils. They require regular watering but can survive moderate drought and adapt to the sun or shade. They grow in hardiness zones 5-9 and can be found from Pennsylvania to Florida. They are native to Eastern North America.

Our nonprofit organization held an Environmental Fair on April 25th. Along with all the speakers and exhibitors, we decided to give away some tree seedlings to those who attended. I found a great price on a bulk order of Sourwood tree seedlings from TN Nursery. I fully understand that the best time to plant a tree is in the fall, but with each tree seedling, we gave detailed planting and care instructions and followed up with an email on helping them survive the summer. They were a big hit, and every tree went home with a family. My only concern was that they shipped earlier than requested and I had to take extra care to keep them in top condition for five days leading up to our event. They arrived in great condition, well packed and healthy and we make a lot of folks happy to plant a tree on Arbor Day. Hopefully, those who planted them will support them through their first year. We plan to do something like this again.
Most were the size advertised but about a third were only 12.They were advertised to be 18-24.
I received my order of 100 sourwood tree seedlings in a quick response. All appeared healthy and ready for planting. The price for these seedlings was reasonable and the product was excellent. I'm looking forward with much anticipation to see how they grow,
